As the world of farming changed in that time, they explain how they adapted their own business along the way.

    Retired science teacher Eleanor Whitehead – author of “The Chivers Story” – talked us through the early history of Chivers and Sons Ltd., from the early nineteenth century through to the 1920s. What led these fruit farmers to start producing jam? How did the product range develop, and what technological innovations were involved?
  • Thoughts from the Courts
    Speaker Simon Taylor is the incumbent priest for the parish of Stapleford and also a part-time criminal barrister and judge, with particular expertise is in cases involving cerebral palsy, meningitis, other brain and spinal injuries and multiple amputations. He gave an overview of the British Courts system, and discussed some interesting cases from his own experience.
